Jack Petchey Awards

What is the Jack Petchey Award scheme?

The Jack Petchey achievement award scheme is run by the Jack Petchey Foundation – a charitable organisation which supports clubs of all sorts (sports, arts, youth organisations) originally in Essex and more recently throughout London.

Jack Petchey Foundation acts to encourage activity in the 11-25 age group and does this by providing incentive funding to clubs with eligible members.

Depending on the number of eligible members, a club will be awarded a level of Jack Petchey membership which dictates the frequency of the awards made in the year. Werewolves of London are currently bronze members and therefore we can make 3 achievement awards in a year.

Who is eligible for an award?

Any member who is within the 11-25 age group can win the award. The purpose of the award is to recognise positive contribution by the individual – not just because they are the best skater .

What does the winner get?

There are two winners here – the winner of the award and the club. Jack Petchey gives £200 to the club for each quarterly winner. The winner helps to decide how the award money is spent to the benefit of the club. The winner will also get a Jack Petchey award certificate and be presented with other Jack Petchey goodies at the formal annual award ceremony….and most of all – the great feeling of their achievements being recognised.

Who can vote?

Any regular club attendee (over the age of 11), be they player, coach, parent or carer.

How often can I vote?

Each person can vote once per quarter by completing a nominatation form. The nomination box will be on display near the tea table.

What am I voting for?

We ask that you provide a reason for the nomination. It need not be directly connected to the club, or to hockey – but perhaps to encourage someone who has been dealing with difficult circumstances , has changed their behaviour in a positive manner, or been supportive in some other way. Don’t vote just because someone is the coolest skater, or because they are your child or best friend – and remember that some of the players face greater challenges to meet targets than others.
