Tournament Time!

The EU Friendship games and Special Hockey International Tournament in Detroit.

Some of you may have already seen the photos on our Facebook page of the EU Friendship games held on the 14th of April and hosted by our friends the SPICE Jets at Absolutely ICE, Slough. It was a great day with 3 fantastic hockey matches played during the morning and early afternoon. The day was then rounded off in the evening with some bowling just down the road.

This tournament introduced to us some new players from the SALA Special Hockey team in Sweden. It was great to see them and we hope they enjoyed their visit to England. The tournament also made the local press with some nice pictures of members of the teams.

A big thank you to all those who participated and all those who were involved in the organisation of the event. It was a great experience which we hope can be repeated again in the future.

Next comes the Special Hockey International Tournament from May 1st-4th in Fraser Hockeyland (formerly known as Great Lakes Sports City), located just to the north east of Detroit, Michigan, USA.

It is being hosted by the Ann Arbor Rockets, the Michigan FAR Flyers, and the MORC Stars in partnership with USA Hockey’s affiliate Michigan Amateur Hockey Association.

There are 5 ice pads there waiting to welcome the teams from across North America and including a ‘Team England’ side made up of Werewolves of London and a few SPICE Jets players. It’s expected to be another exciting and well attended event.

To all those who are attending, we wish you good luck and most importantly have loads of fun!

Look out for some pictures of the players in action at the tournament in the future.
